Dr Brown's School of Musical Arts (DBsoma)

Dr. Brown's School of Muscial Arts, or DBsoma, is a music and science school in Dallas, Texas. Ron designed and illustrated a recent promotional piece for the school, a musical map of Dallas. This 20 x 16 inch poster was given out at a fundraiser for Alcuin School, and will be revised (minus the promotional bits) as a item to sell online and in record shops in the Dallas area.

The map features tiny iconic illustrations of important figures, locations, and incidents from Dallas musical lore. An online companion explains them at greater length. (Did you know U2 once played an early gig at a bar in Dallas with a wet t-shirt contest as the opening act?)

DBsoma also includes a startup educational program for chemistry. It's a program to "gamify" learning via rewards and lessons that are more fun than the usual fare. The project is in test mode right now, but will hopefully launch soon. Ron is in charge of the graphic elements, some of which can be seen here.

These are stickers, sort of like merit badges for demonstrating mastery of various concepts of chemistry. These designs were created in Adobe Illustrator. (Ron is not a chemist, so don't ask him too many questions about what they mean.)
